This heritage brick semi-industrial building sits behind the iconic Bellingen Gelato Bar and is one of the original bakeries of Bellingen. This volumetric linear building stretching north to Short Street Lane is defined by a narrow gable and skillion roof. Neglected and the subject of successive use and alterations (eg. Bellingen veterinary clinic), the architectural heritage became the rigorous understudy and folly of the artist/client/builder. Robust buildings beget a robust response in terms of authentic and industrial ‘flavoured’ materials; polish concrete floors, red clay heritage face bricks, steel and timber.
