Curacao is tropical, the Caribbean with the flavour of rum, Cajun, Carnival and Dutch history. The proposed residence is on an estate where a private frontage required research into a mass tectonic and a subtle play on the colour and historical context of this islands built heritage. The entrance courtyard centres around an Indju tree and opens onto a breezeway that connects two separate pavilions: the living and bedroom pavilions fronting a pool at the rear. This split functional typology satisfactorily addresses privacy and amenity issues for the young modern family. High ceilings with shuttered windows regulate tropical breezes.
